Tom Dreessen (Indonesia, USA born), CEO of Energy Efficiency Project Investment Company (EEPIC) is a global expert in financing and developing energy efficiency projects (EEPs) for large industrial, commercial and institutional facility owners. He formed one of the first US ESCOs in 1981 and owned ESCOs in 10 different countries. He has developed EEPs in 24 countries. He is one of the few who implemented savings based EEPs on a global basis. Dreessen’s extensive financing, transaction structuring and contract expertise has resulted in the creation of several innovative and leading edge project financing options. Creating these options has gained him recognition as a global energy efficiency financing and ESCO industry expert. He thus has a reputation for creating financing structures that were "firsts" in many developing countries.
Dreessen has used his unique ESCO and EEP financing expertise to create market based financing structures in Mexico and China. In China he has raised and manages a $100 million private equity fund that invests in EEPs managed by local ESCOs. In Mexico he has created a new savings financing structure for Mexican Banks to finance EEPs.
Dreessen developed the International Energy Efficiency Financing Protocol (IEEFP) under the aegis of the Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO). The IEEFP is a newly developed product that is expected to become the "blue print" for local banks to follow for financing EEPs.
Dreessen serves on the Board and or Chairs various committees on the following non profit organizations: Alliance to Save Energy, US National Association of Energy Service Companies (NAESCO) and Efficiency Valuation Organisation (EVO).
